Building Regulations

Building regulations and the compliance with building controls are, again, an area in which expertise is needed. Building Regulations are updated and change regularly. Greenwood Bell has expertise in dealing with Building Regulations required for each new build, extension, conversion and more. They provide their clients with detailed drawings and specifications of work sufficient to submit a Full Plans Application or a Building Notice.

We can advise our clients on whether building regulations are needed for the works they want to carry out. This advice is offered to both our domestic and private clients.

Building Regulations

Building Regulations are regulations provided by the Government in order to ensure buildings are built and renovated safely and securely and which take into consideration the health and safety of people in and around the buildings being improved and built.

The regulations are designed to offer protection to those who will use your building by making sure that building comply with all the legalities. They offer uniformity to design and build and put measures in to avoid injuries and damage occurring.

Building regulations contain the rules for new and altered buildings to make them safe and accessible and limit waste and environmental damage. People carrying out building work must usually arrange for their work to be checked by an independent third party to make sure that their work meets the required standards. In some cases the installer can certify themselves that their work complies.

Building practices, technology and construction techniques are constantly evolving. GWB  make sure that building regulation drawings and specifications they provide are efficient, up to date and effective.

Building Regulation Process

This can be a lengthy process but one which is essential. Before building works commence, our clients will need to submit drawings of the work to be undertaken. We can provide these drawings and attend the meeting with the building regulators to chat through with them the intricacies of the build. Our expertise in this area often avoids any delays which can prove costly to our clients particularly during the construction phase. We know how the regulations work and what needs to be put into place and we know how to present our client in the best way and explain the build.
